Responsible testing

Clinical safety and limitations.

Private blood testing can provide useful information, but it has boundaries. Those boundaries should be clear before anyone books.

Emergency

Do not wait for testing

AK-LABS is not an emergency service. Call 999 or attend A&E for an immediate risk to life. Contact NHS 111 for urgent medical advice.

Meaning

A result is not a diagnosis

An in-range result does not rule out disease. An out-of-range result does not by itself establish a diagnosis. Symptoms and clinical history still matter.

Variation

Results have context

Fasting, hydration, time of day, exercise, illness, medicines, supplements and laboratory method can affect measurements.

Follow-up

Know where to go next

A documented contact and escalation process will be in place before launch, including how significant and critical findings are handled.

Collection and sample quality

Identity, consent, labelling, transport, stability, failed-sample and recollection processes will be confirmed with the clinic and laboratory pathway before appointments open. The final terms will explain when recollection or refund is appropriate.

Clinical review

The optional £99 review will be delivered only by an appropriately qualified and insured professional acting within a defined scope. Their name, registration, appointment duration, limitations and follow-up arrangements will be displayed before payment.

Performance-enhancing substances

AK-LABS plans confidential, non-judgemental monitoring for adults. It will not supply, prescribe, endorse or advise on non-prescribed anabolic substances. Testing cannot make their use risk-free.
