Follow the fasting instruction
The planned panels use a fasting morning sample. Unless your final instructions say otherwise, fasting means no food or calorific drinks for the stated period; plain water is normally permitted.
Before your appointment
Good preparation supports a useful, comparable sample. Your appointment-specific instructions will always take priority over this general guidance.

Plain water can make collection easier and reduce avoidable sample problems. Follow any fluid restriction given by your own clinician.
Do not stop, delay or alter prescribed medicines to influence a result unless an appropriate clinician has specifically instructed you.
Strenuous exercise, poor sleep, illness, alcohol, supplements and time of day may influence some results. Final instructions will explain any panel-specific restrictions.
Ask for individual guidance before booking if you have diabetes, are pregnant, take medicines affected by fasting, have a history of fainting during collection, have been advised not to fast or are currently unwell. Do not send medical details by ordinary email; the secure pre-assessment route will be published before launch.
