Ranges can vary by laboratory, method and population. A flag means a result falls outside the stated range; it is not automatically a diagnosis.
Direction may matter
Compatible repeat results can show change over time, but differences in preparation, illness, medication and laboratory method can affect comparison.
In range is not a guarantee
A result within range does not rule out illness or remove the need to seek care for symptoms or concerns.
One result may need follow-up
An out-of-range result can require repeat testing, wider assessment or clinical review depending on the result and the person’s circumstances.
Report release
The final secure-results route, identity checks, notification method and availability of explanatory notes will be shown before booking. Results should not be sent through ordinary email unless the final verified process expressly provides for it.
Significant and critical results
AK-LABS will have a documented contact and escalation process before launch. Keep contact details accurate and respond promptly. This process is not continuous monitoring and does not replace emergency services.
When to seek help
Use an appropriate clinician for symptoms, diagnosis, treatment or medication decisions. Call 999 or attend A&E for an immediate risk to life; contact NHS 111 for urgent medical advice.
